Nutrition for Cancer Support
November 8, 2019 @ 12:00 am
A free nutrition workshop for those going through treatment for any form of cancer.
No one is ready for cancer. The impact a diagnosis has on you and those around you is striking and it can be hard to know where to turn.
Perhaps you’ve already asked “Dr Google” or have had well-meaning friends and family members send you articles about the best diet to support you through your treatment. You may have also found that this information is filled with contradictions which only adds to the confusion and uncertainty of an already stressful and scary situation.
The information found in books and on websites and blogs varies greatly and can be based on outdated research. Generally speaking, the information we find will fall into one of three categories of reliability.
This is nutrition information specific to cancer that has been gathered from scientific studies. This is the most reliable category.
Unproven or Untested
Some of this emerging evidence has shown benefit in animals or in laboratory situations. It may or may not be relevant or effective for humans but may be worth considering.
This nutritional information has little or no scientific research to reinforce it. Some would call these the nutrition ‘myths’ around cancer.
During this free 3-hour workshop we’ll delve into unpacking these categories, focus on busting the myths around diet and cancer and discovering the best way to support your body during and after treatment.
Common questions covered are:
- Does sugar feed cancer?
- Should I stop consuming dairy?
- Is soy safe for breast cancer?
- What sources of protein shall I eat?
The workshops are limited to 8 places to ensure they’re kept interactive with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and get personalised and practical advice. We’ll also cook a recipe for lunch which you can try at home.
